Our Missionaries
Every Heart without Christ is a Mission Field. Every Heart with Christ is a Missionary. Petries, Western Australia
John and Maggie continued to serve in various ministries at Mount Helena, including the Christian school and the youth ministry, which they led for over 8 years. In 2004, the Lord spoke to John about finishing his theology degree and was led to Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, where he graduated in 2007. John and Maggie and their three children, Emily, Elijah and Lily, arrived back in Australia at the end of 2007 and followed the leading of the Lord to open the doors of the International Baptist Church of Swan Valley on February 24, 2008. Bill Smith, GLOBE As the work he did spread to other missionaries, they began to call upon him to come to their field and conduct these ministries. The ministry began to grow to the place where it was necessary to devote his full time to it. He has since been in over 70 countries and now ministers in 10 to 12 countries each year, training more than 2000 each year, and seeing 200 to 400 souls saved each year. He is supported by those who believe in the same approach that the Apostle Paul used in the New Testament. The support allows him to go and provide this ministry free of charge on the mission fields of the world. Pray for his health to remain good, for safety as he goes and for added support to continue the ministry. McGeorges, Nauru In January of 1998, at his last youth camp, Adam completely surrendered his life to do the will of God, whatever that might be. Pastor Howard began discipleship classes with Adam and he started to take on responsibilities in his local church. During this time, Adam started to consider the idea of going to Bible College. As soon as he completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in Wildlife Biology degree from Griffith University, Adam enrolled at Heartland Baptist Bible College, in the USA, for the spring semester of 2001. Through much prayer, study, and leadership of the Holy Spirit, Adam surrendered to God’s call upon his life to be a missionary to the Pacific Island of Nauru. Adam and Christina were Married 21st of May 2004, after which Adam became the Missions Intern at Whittier Lane Baptist Church. They were blessed with the gift of Elijah John McGeorge on the 11th of March 2006. http://www.mcgeorgemissions.info Winters, Rockingham, Western Australia The Winter family minister at Faith Baptist Church in Rockingham, Western Australia.
Smiths, East Timor
The Lord has been able to establish a church and Community Training Centre in the capital city, Dili. The church holds weekly services in Tetum and English, and currently work has also begun in the town of Likisa about 30 minutes west of Dili.
Because of the language problem in East Timor, all materials have to be translated into the Tetum language. Consequently, translation work is a large part of the ongoing ministry. The translation of the New Testament has been finished and is undergoing its final reading. They are hoping to have it printed during the first part of 2009.
Busters, Tonga In 1991 the Lord called him into the ministry. He later became the assistant to the Pastor at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Canberra. In 1992 the Lord burdened his heart with the need to preach the Gospel “in the regions beyond” and God used the book of Nehemiah to call him to Tonga from where his wife, Sela, originated. Just as Nehemiah had a burden to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, the Lord gave Pastor Buster a burden to rebuild the walls of Christianity in Tonga. They arrived in Tonga in August of 1994 and started the New Testament Baptist Church, which is now being pastored by a native Tongan. Their prayer is for the Lord to raise up local men who can be trained for the ministry so that they can establish other churches throughout the other islands of Tonga and the South Pacific. John was saved out of drug addiction, in Melbourne, at the age of 27. Soon afterwards, he felt God's call to the ministry and began his Bible college training. A few years later, John met Maggie, who was led to the Lord as a child by her parents, Eric and Kathy Thrush, at a national fellowship meeting in Adelaide. Two years later they were married, and made their home in Western Australia.
The Global League of Baptist Evangelism (GLOBE) came into existence about 20 years ago. As a pastor, it was Bro Smith’s desire to see how he could help the missionaries his church was supporting. He found they needed ministries that he could supply: preaching in their camps and churches, helping them start churches, and teaching in their Institutes to help prepare young men to be pastors.
Adam McGeorge was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. At the age of 15 he repented and trusted Christ as his Saviour.
The Smith family was called to East Timor in 1999 and arrived on the field in January 2000. Upon their arrival they became involved in many varying aspects of the ministry including health and medicines, education, food, clothing and water assistance due to the terrible destruction and depressing plight of the Timorese people. It was during this time that the Lord was able to establish good relationships which have been nurtured and are now yielding fruit.
Being bought up a Roman Catholic, Bob Buster had always considered himself a Christian, but through the life and testimony of one of his employees, and the Word of God, he found there to be a vast difference between religion and Christianity. In October of 1988 at the age of 34, he saw from God’s Word his need to repent of his sin and to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” as his Saviour.
